Bonding over colors, hardwork, and a dance-y playlist for A Thousand Smiles. Painting the boys’ bedroom was so fun and it left memorable hues on my soul. Home is your collection of seashell bracelets, your life in summer dresses and tattered flip flops. Home is your skin turning one shade darker every day and thinking that it’s a beautiful thing that you are being seasoned by sunlight.

I have started a blog and I began with an entry about finding and defining home. I’m just glad that I finally mustered the courage to go back to this kind of writing.

“You know this boogie is for real…” During Tuesday and Friday nights, the island becomes the setting of a rural disco party called “Jungle Disco.” Tucked inside one of the side streets off the main road, an open space, roofed area is transformed into a dance hall decked with blinking lights and massive box speakers that emit a somewhat outdated, remix-heavy playlist that usually repeats itself after 40 minutes or so. Nevertheless, locals, tourists, and settlers come together for drinks (the preferred drink is a strong rhum and mango slush called “Jungle Juice”) and sweaty dancing until 3am. #JungleDisco #CannedHeat #SiargaoIsland
